We had a terrific, high energy opening day of HSJS 2019-2020/5780 yesterday! I so appreciate everyone’s commitment and dedication to our program and your willingness to try something new. Yesterday we enjoyed a meal together, sang and prayed, got a taste of the variety of electives that may be offered, and had some dedicated, shared learning time with our core classes. It was abundantly clear that our students are excited about everything from Jewish Mysticism to The Jewish League to Jewish Cooking and beyond.
Some important, logistical reminders/things we learned yesterday:
1) Pick up and drop off at The Temple in the rear parking lot at the door into the Heideman Auditorium—we’ll be able to see everyone drive up more easily at this entrance.
2) We’ll meet again on Sunday, September 22, when we’ll be joining the Muslim-JewishAlliance for Hunger Relief Team for the annual Dare to Care Hunger Walk. Please assemble in the rear Temple parking lot by 1 pm. Students who are madrichim at LBSY should have plenty of time to get to The Temple to ride the bus with us. As always, if your child will not be able to attend, shoot me a text or email to let me know.
3) Finally, if you’re not already signed up for our Remind text notification system, PLEASE do it right now by texting @hsjs502 to 81010. This is the most efficient way to let you know about last minute schedule changes, program reminders, or weather cancellations.
